Harv Schroeder became Mayor of Altona in 2022, following his 2018-2022 term as a Town Councillor. Harv moved to Altona after graduating from WC Miller Collegiate. His first job was at OTC, which is currently called Blue Sky Opportunities. A job opening for Public Works with the Town became available, and it was his career for the next 30 years. He is currently working on the family farm where he grew up, in Sommerfeld. Harv has always enjoyed working for the public and living in Altona, and felt that he wanted to give back to the citizens of the town of Altona. The Town of Altona has given him opportunities to raise his family here, play sports, coach Girls hockey, softball, Special Olympics, and be involved with the YFC board. He will work with Council to continue to move the community forward. |

Craig Smiley was elected to the Town of Altona Council in 2022, and elected Deputy Mayor in 2024. Craig has called Altona home for nearly 25 years, and is very invested in the community along with his wife and three kids. For 20 years, Craig was a member of the Borderland School Division Board, spending 14 of those years as chair. He also served his community as a member of the Altona Minor Hockey Executive for four years, three of which he was chair. He looks forward to bringing his experience into his new role as Councillor. |

Born in Altona and a graduate of W.C. Miller Collegiate, Jordan has always believed in being an active part of his community. During high school he served as Student Council President, as a founding member of the W.C. Miller Youth in Philanthropy, and as Youth Representative on the board of the Altona Community Foundation and on the Altona Town Council. He built leadership skills volunteering as a lifeguard and counsellor at Winkler Bible Camp and by attending conferences such as the Forum for Young Canadians in Ottawa. Jordan left Altona to attend Providence University College and graduated with a B.A. Honors Degree in Business Administration and Agriculture. During his time there he was involved in Student Leadership, served on faculty hiring committees, and organized on-air policy debates during the 2011 provincial election. He earned the Manitoba Student Entrepreneur Champion award in 2011 and 2013. He continued to be involved in provincial and federal governance through attending Mennonite Central Committee’s student seminar in Ottawa and through serving as a board member for the Emerson PC Association. In 2016 Jordan moved into Altona and has been working at Greenvalley Equipment as a Precision Agriculture Specialist. He continues to be involved in the community through practicing English with newcomers at English Café, and in 2018 was pleased to be elected to serve as Altona Town Councillor. Jordan was re-elected to Council in 2022. |

Cheryl Dueck was elected to the Town of Altona Council in 2022. Cheryl started working in Altona at Friesens Book Division in 1981, after marrying a local farmer, and drove to work from the family farm north of Horndean. After completing her Bachelors of Education in 1995, Cheryl and her family moved to Altona in 1996 and she started teaching in 1998. While working as the Career Internship Teacher at W.C. Miller Collegiate, Cheryl collaborated with local businesses for the student work experience placements. Since retiring from teaching in 2015, Cheryl has volunteered on a variety of committees, as well as serving on Access Credit Union Board for 6 years. Cheryl loves living in Altona and is honoured to be able to work with the Town Council to help maintain this beautiful town. |

Donna Rosling-Wolters first joined the Town of Altona Council in 2014, and was re-elected in 2018, and again in 2022. Recently retired, Donna was a local business owner for 17 years and prior to that worked in retail and social service agencies with a focus on women and families. She has also been an active member of the Altona community, serving on a variety of boards in the past. |

Elected in 2022, Tammy Braun is a lifelong resident of Altona. She is retired from her career of over 30 years as a quality control lab technician at Bunge. Raising her three boys in Altona, and being involved in their school activities and sports events gave Tammy wonderful opportunities to enjoy the Town of Altona's great qualities. She is a community focused team player, serving on various committees throughout the years. She will strive to work together with the council, with the best interest of the community in mind, and will focus on researching and developing to build a strong community foundation, making Altona a great place to live. |
Get to Know Councillor Perry BatchelorRepresents the residents of Altona in the following committees and boards:

Perry Batchelor was elected to the Town of Altona Council in 2022. Born in Altona, Perry was raised in Gretna, until leaving for the Military in 1980. He spent almost 17 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, in which he completed Peacekeeping Tours in Cyprus and the Former Republic of Yugoslavia. He and his family also completed 4 years with NATO serving in West Germany. Perry and his family (wife Kim, daughter Megan and son Mac) returned to Altona in June of 1997 when Perry began his employment with the Altona Police Service. During his 25 years with the police service Perry graduated from the Winnipeg Police Academy and completed many courses with the RCMP, Winnipeg Police, and Brandon Police Service, to name a few. He also attended the Canadian Police College in Ottawa on 5 separate occasions, and completed a Diploma in Police Leadership through Dalhousie University. He retired as Chief of Police from the Altona Police Service on September 1st, 2022; having served 42 years in uniform. During his combined service he was awarded the Peacekeepers Medal, Peacekeeping Medals in both Cyprus and Croatia, the Special Service Medal for service with NATO, the Canadian Decoration, the Queens Diamond Jubilee, and the Police Exemplary Service Medal. Perry has enjoyed volunteering with Altona Minor, Junior, and Senior Baseball; Altona Minor Hockey; Altona Community Foundation; and he continues to serve on Provincial Boards and is the Municipal Emergency Coordinator for the Town of Altona. |

Did you know that, according to the 2021 census, 1/4 of all residents in Altona are under the age of 19? The Town of Altona Council has had Youth Representatives participate in discussion and decision making for over two decades to ensure that younger voices in the community are heard. |
